The place needs some updating, but oh my God the brisket was out of this world. You need to get there as soon as they open we got there at 12:30 PM and they were running out of everything.
Best BBQ spot that we visited when we were in San Antonio. Brisket was so juicy and filling. Not dry at all. Chicharon Mac and Mexican Corn is a great addition. The corn was especially delicious with a great balance of flavors. Service was friendly and accommodating. The place itself course get some love as I am sure they are racking it in because they are so good. However nonetheless it adds to the experience.
If you're a BBQ lover, 2M Smokehouse BBQ is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with outstanding customer service that makes you feel at home. The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, ensuring you have the best experience possible. The star of the show, of course, is the meat. The quality is exceptional, whether it's their melt-in-your-mouth brisket, juicy ribs, or perfectly seasoned sausage. Every bite is tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. You can tell that a lot of care goes into the preparation and smoking process. And let's not forget the sides! The coleslaw, in particular, is a standout and my new favorite--refreshing and the perfect complement to the smoky, savory meats. The other sides are equally delicious, but the coleslaw is something you'll (or maybe just me) remember long after your meal. Sitting is both indoor and outdoor, so take your pick. Overall, 2M Smokehouse BBQ is a top-tier spot for incredible food and a fantastic dining experience. I highly recommend it!
TIP: Get there early. The line gets long and they close doors when sold out. Absolutely loved the sliced brisket sandwich. Super tender and juicy. Strong smoke flavor and marbling with a red ring and crispy edges. The bbq sauce is unique .. oil based. Yet, it had a pop of flavor that made the sandwich. Added a side of Mexican street corn. Covered with cheese, chimicharri and other flavors. We also got a link of sausage ... good flavor. Definitely headed back.
Before I even landed in San Antonio, someone had highly recommended me to come here. Boy am I glad that I did ! We got their special that day, which was the brisket burger. It was divinely delicious! Even my friend who is picky with her bbq meat thought it tasted good ! Even though on Yelp it says it closes at 4, but actually they will close when they run out of food. By the time we got there, around 1:30 ish, they ran out of sausages and the chicharrones that goes on top of the mac and cheese (which I was really sad about..). The guy on the counter was super nice and friendly. He gave us two sample turkey smoked meat for free since we said we wanted to try that! Although there was no chicharrones on top of the mac and cheese, it still tasted fabulous! If I ever visit San Antonio again,I will definitely come back here !!
There are few things I love in this life like a good culture shock. It fully resets me. Seeing the way other people live, how they eat, what they eat, what they do for fun, and how they love feeds my soul like nothing else. It inspires me to take certain things and add them to my own life, and at the same time makes me appreciate certain things in my day to day life I take for granted. The trip to 2M Smokehouse, and San Antonio in general, made me realize I need to appreciate the sub-cultures of my own country more. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, does BBQ like Texas. I often try to go as far away from home as possible to gain perspective, but I can just as easily do that within the US. Before I get chirped, I know that Dallas and Austin are more known for their BBQ, but it seemed like 2M was the BBQ spot in San Antonio that stacked up with the other heavyweight BBQ joints in the state. We pulled into the beat up gravel parking lot directly off of the highway at 12:04pm on a Saturday. Before we even opened the door, you could smell it. The smell of a smoker working overtime. The smell that makes you lean your head back and let out an audible "Oh my..." I was slightly perturbed as there was no line out the door, which I've heard is typical of popular bbq spots in Texas, but when we opened the door we realized everyone was just packed inside due to the heat, thank god. After a 24 minute wait, looking at all the framed newspaper articles hyping up the greatness of 2M, we got to the front and put our order in. My $41 plate consisted of Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Turkey with a side of Mexican Street Corn and Maria's Beans. I realized the grave error of my ways when I turned around and saw my buddies plate that had the Beef Rib and the Chicharoni Macaroni. Bruh. That Beef Rib was NUTTY, both in taste and aesthetic. It was perfectly smoked, seasoned, and charred or whatever they do with it. Everything on my plate was fantastic, but the beef rib just stole the show. It was like being in the same draft class as Wemby. No matter how great you are, you're getting overshadowed by the beef rib. Sorry. Even Bron would have gone 2 in a Wemby draft... I also had no idea about the lure of a beef rib. I didn't know why it was the most expensive meat on the menu, and I still don't tbh but my god it's all I'm ordering next time I go to a good BBQ spot. I mean it was like $50 just for the beef rib, but so worth it. This TANK of a rib literally fell off the bone as my buddy touched it with a plastic fork and knife. He was also voted "Dream Date 2014" back in high school... that doesn't tie in here at all but just had to let y'all know. Gotta put some respect on that. Dream Date spread the wealth on the Beef Rib and Chicharoni Mac and both were to die for. Unreal. Straight up touched by the hand of God. I don't even like Mac n cheese like that, but this was some different shiiii. I sat in the back of 2M covered seating area, probably 3000 calories deep, the meat sweats DOG WALKING me, sipping an iced cold topo chico while fighting for my life, but smiling from ear to ear grateful to experience this. I couldn't get anything close to this in LA or NY, or really anywhere in the world. If I lived here, I would have a date with that beef rib once a quarter marked on the calendar. Come to Papi... but any more often than that and I would be a straight up CHUNKSTER lol. As of writing this to you, my dear reader, a couple of these beef ribs would be my death row meal. THANK YOU 2M! I'LL BE BACK ONE DAY! Ig @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews
The food was absolutely delicious. The service was just as amazing. Yes, you will probably have to wait in line longer than you'd like, but I'm sure most people will agree that the food is worth the wait. The staff acknowledges the long wait times and frequently handed back samples for everyone in line. There is adequate seating both indoors and outdoors. A good selection of drinks and PLEASE try to the brisket and/or the pork belly.
We came too late. We joined the line at 12 noon. By the time we reached the counter, most of the BBQ meats were sold out. We had two types of sausages, Barbacoa, and mac n cheese. Next time I am in San Antonio, I will get here early to try the brisket.
Came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon around 130 and waited a bit over an hour before we got our food. By the time we ordered about half the meats were sold out, though they mentioned even on very busy days they generally don't run out of brisket. If trying all/most of the non brisket meats is important to you I'd recommend coming early, but if you're content sticking with brisket and sides you could probably come closer to dinner and avoid the line Their brisket was the absolute star of the experience. Everything you would hope for from a Texas brisket. The fatty was melt in your mouth delicious without being so oily as to feel gross. The lean had a great salty smoky flavor with just the right about of bark. We tried the pork sausage which had Serranos and Oaxacan cheese as opposed to the traditional jalapeños and cheddar. I enjoyed it but am more happy to keep that as a novelty than the standard. The spice and cheesiness overpowered the sausage flavor, i still recommend trying it but would probably go for something else if I were to come back The pork ribs were solid, a little tougher than I'd usually like and I did find myself lathering them in the bbq syrup (not sauce). I was a little surprised this was one of their staples since it was the clear weakest of the 3 meats for us. The macaroni and cheese was tasty and a nice pallet cleanser between meats. Maybe it's our brains being used to breadcrumbs on top of mac and cheese, but the chicharron on top mostly added texture and not really any flavor difference from the usual breadcrumbs you'd find on other mac and cheeses Overall we had a good experience but probably wouldn't go out of my way for this spot in the future
